In a heavily disrupted world of Covid 19, it’s fair to say humour is one of the things that has kept many of us sane. Taking your hair down and indulging in your daily social-media feast has never been better when comedians such as Elsa Majimbo are near. In fact, the lockdown played a big role in Majimbo’s discovery to the world.
Who is Elsa?
You have probably seen her somewhere making rounds on the net by now. Majimbo is known for her quirky and funny video monologues. She first went viral in March over a relatable yet hilarious skit about the lockdown restrictions. Unfiltered and always munching on chips, Majimbo’s infectious laugh is what has stolen the viewer’s hearts. The Kenyan internet sensation has since gone on to work with Fenty by Rihanna, Mac Cosmetics as well as being featured on Glamour magazine and more.
At 19, she never imagined to take away E! People’s Choice award for African Social Star. Majimbo was nominated alongside South Africa’s Sho Madjozi, Lydia Forson, reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, Dimma Umeh, Karl Kugelmann, Thuso Mbedu and Wian van den Berg.
Speaking on the win she said, “When I heard about the nomination, I was so excited. You just think how everyone in that category is just amazing. I thought I might not win, but being nominated was so cool. My head exploded when I won, I screamed. Technically we are all winners. I was so happy about that.”
