“This is not a love story,” reads the trailer. “This is a story of love.”- and so the anticipation begins. This Valentines month promises to be a treat thanks to Netflix, but mostly because of Zendaya. With her lead role in Euphoria unquestionably winning her an Emmy award for Best Lead Actress in a drama series, there is no telling where viewers will be transported in her latest film take.
Malcolm and Marie finds comfort in familiarity with the creator Sam Levinson being the same creator for Euphoria. But this time, the crew juggled the task of filming during the COVID-19 pandemic, and what better than doing it all in one setting. Like shooting the entire movie in a private California home last July.
The plot synopsis for Malcolm & Marie reads:
“When filmmaker Malcolm (John David Washington) and his girlfriend Marie (Zendaya), return home from a movie premiere and await his film’s critical response, the evening takes a turn as revelations about their relationship surface, testing the couple’s love.”
The romantic drama is set to premiere this February 5, overflowing with tension and chills that could fill a river.
